April 2013:

"Due to lack of time in our schedule to fit in science and art, this program was an essential part of our curriculum.  Many of our students do not have the opportunity to spend time getting to know the environment around them.  These lessons were lead by enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and capable teachers who guided them to use their curiosity deepen their sense of place.  The subsequent art lessons cemented this knowledge while also giving the students an opportunity to develop their ability to combine pictures and text to share what they learned.  They learned a variety of skills that will help them to be more grounded in their own habitat, capable of taking care of themselves in the outdoors, and more competent with the science standards.  I hope to be able to participate in this program again in the future."
