Hoop Dancing for Exercise and Meditation; May 21, 2016

Every action in our lives results in concentric circles. Our smallest action, even our thoughts, affect everything in our world. Dancing with a hoop is fun and it fosters balance, stamina, and timing, but it is also a physical illustration of concentric cirlces. When one turns in circles during a hoop dance, it can become a moving meditation or an artistic expression.

This beginners' class will introduce participants to the basics of hoop dancing and hooping for exercise.  Understanding the basic principles of expressing emotion within the parameters of a rigid, circular object can be challenging, but it is rewarding too. This class will give you a foundation that will allow you to progress at your own pace and maximize your enjoyment of hooping. Once the basics are mastered, you can determine the intensity of the exercise and how you wish to express yourself with your hoop. And hoops have a wonderful attribute not to be overlooked: they are toys -- they bring joy to people's faces when they see one.
